What each service covers
Warrant of Fitness inspections
A WOF is a safety check against the national inspection standard: tyres, brakes, lights, steering, suspension, structure, seat belts, the exhaust and more. If something does not pass, we can explain what failed and quote the repair. What a full service adds on top of a warrant is set out on our car servicing in Te Awamutu page.
Fuel and lube services
Regular oil and filter changes are the cheapest insurance an engine has. Old oil loses its ability to protect moving parts, and a blocked filter lets dirt circulate. A fuel and lube service keeps those basics on schedule and gives us a regular look at the rest of the vehicle.
Tow bars, mufflers and exhausts
We make and fit custom tow bars for cars, utes and 4WDs, and we repair and replace mufflers and exhaust systems. A leaking or blowing exhaust is noisier, can let fumes into the cabin and can fail a WOF, so it is worth getting checked early. Custom exhaust work and other metalwork is covered in more detail under engineering and fabrication.
Collection and delivery
If getting to the workshop is the hard part, ask about our collection and delivery service when you book. It means your vehicle can be serviced without you rearranging your day.
Keeping a service history
Regular servicing protects your vehicle's resale value, and a record of that servicing is part of what a buyer pays for. Keep the invoices from each visit together with the vehicle's paperwork. They show when the oil, filters and other wear items were last done, which helps you, and later a buyer, see what is due next.
Quotes, pricing and your rights
The cost of a job depends on the vehicle, the parts it needs and how long the work takes, which is why we give a free consultation and a no-obligation quote rather than a one-size price. You can compare it, ask questions, and decide in your own time.
Every job is also covered by New Zealand consumer law. Under the Consumer Guarantees Act, work such as fixing your car must be carried out with reasonable care and skill and be fit for the purpose you asked for. On top of that, we give a 12-month guarantee on all servicing and repairs, and finance options are available through Gilrose Finance for bigger jobs.
